Computer Science and Engineering Master of Science

About us

The mission of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Ȥҹ´«Ã½ Program is to develop researchers, educators, and practicing professionals with advanced skills in computing. Students can pursue either a master's degree, doctorate or both.

The master's program offers two main tracks designed to meet different student goals. Each track provides students a solid background in theory and foundations of computing and exposes students to the latest technology and ideas in computer science.

  • Research (thesis) Track: This track is intended for students who want to gain advanced knowledge in computing and develop their ability to conduct independent, creative research. It requires the completion of a master’s thesis based on some original research.
  • Coursework Non-Thesis Track: The coursework non-thesis track aims to deliver advanced knowledge and practical skills that are highly applicable to the needs of practicing professionals. It has two options:
    • Coursework Project Option: Students complete a substantial project over two consecutive semesters (at least 6 credit hours) under the guidance of a CSE faculty member.
    • Coursework Non-Project Option: This option involves coursework and a written master’s comprehensive examination, with no research or project requirement.
